GotFrag Network: Posting Rules

GotFrag Posting Rules (Revised 11/05/05)

Thank you for taking the time to read our posting rules. GotFrag inflicts severe penalties for those who break these rules, usually meaning that your IP address and account are restricted from even visiting our site. This is done to improve the experience for the rest of our readers.

GotFrag is frequented by young viewers, often as low as 13 years of age. Do not post anything that is not appropriate for such young visitors. Pretend you are the parent of such a young person; don't post anything that you wouldn't want them to see.

POSTING RULES

  • Do not post any information that is private to another person or company.

    Example: Someone’s private phone number, address, passwords, private photos etc.
    Punishment: post/thread nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Manager)

  • Do not post any comments slanderous to another person or company.

    Example: If you say something untrue and damaging about another person or company. Hate propaganda
    Punishment: post/thread nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Manager)

  • Do not post any content containing exceedingly coarse language (don't swear).

  • Do not post with the intent of exploiting our swear filter. (NEW)

  • Do not post any racist, sexist, bigoted, vulgar or slanderous comments and/or material. Don't use language that negatively refers to any race or sexual orientation.

  • Do not post any commercial advertisements or links to promotional offers (keep your pyramid links to yourself).

    Example: get a free iPod using your "account"

  • Do not advertise any company or service that you are involved in or that you are sponsored by (no advertising).

    Example: Contact me for CS Server Rentals we have the best servers in the world.

  • Do not post links to any content that is not appropriate and legal for someone 13 years of age (many GotFrag users are).

  • Do not SPAM, period. (REVISED)

    Example: Posting the exact same comment over and over again within the same article, thread or in multiple threads/articles. Posting multiple threads in succession over a short period of time.

  • Exploiting any part of the website with the intent of breaking a function. (NEW)

  • Do not include your buddy link profile in your SIG or posts.

    Punishment: sig/post nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Manager)

  • Search prior to posting to make sure someone else hasn’t already posted the exact same topic.

    Punishment: post/thread nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Manager)

  • Post in the appropriate forum.

    Example: I got a new mouse but the drivers suck help, funny video (non Counter-Strike related). Posting CS content in the Painkiller forums and visa versa

  • Do not advertise IRC channels or clan websites, with the exception of Recruiting forums and contact for movie information. (REVISED)

  • Do not post just to increase your account rating (nerd star).

    Example: any posts not relating to the topic.
    Any posts not productive to the conversation.
    Posting hundreds of comments a day.
    Spamming the site.
    Punishment: post/thread nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Manager)

  • Do not post cheat movies in any forum.

    Punishment: post/thread nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Staff)

  • Abuse towards staff or any user will not be tolerated. (NEW)

  • Do not post links to or requests for copyrighted software or downloads. (NEW)

    Punishment: post/thread nuked. Continued offenses may lead to the user being Banned (length determined by Moderation Staff)

When the rules are broken

You WILL be banned from visiting or posting on GotFrag for a time period of our choosing, often infinite.  Additionally, your IP address (or entire network) may be banned, so you won't be able to create a new account.

Don't break the rules!

Note: These rules apply to all forums as well as any comments made on the entire site.
