Zach "Kurridge" Taylor, GotFrag's prime CPL trip winner, has submitted his day 1 experiences from CPL.
Day One

It's 10:00PM CST and I have finally arrived. After my original flight from Charleston to Charlotte was cancelled, I caught the next available flight to Dallas. As soon as I stepped out of the cab I was greeted by my teammate Jesh (jStar). He grabbed my bags and we ran straight to the tournament area. My 1.6 team (Devastation) was awaiting my arrival to start the CAL Razer General League Finals. I literally took off my jacket and typed !ready. We played GameSense.az (Arizona LAN team) on inferno. We were coming in from the lower bracket finals, so we needed to win back-to-back. We ended up coming out on top both matches. Thanks go out to Razer for sending us home with more money that 6th place in the CPL 1.6 Championships!

The BYOC this year seems a little empty as many of the Quake4 teams are practicing in their rooms, or are at local LAN centers warming up. This still serves up a giant question mark for the American players as reputable players like fox have yet to be seen playing. I personally was waiting for ZeRo4 to show up, because he actually registered for the tournament under a different name. He, unfortunately, will not be competing because he has yet to check-in or even show.

I would like to also extend a HUGE thank you to the guys here at GotFrag for making this trip possible. Just to clear up any of the little jokes or questions: The drawing was not limited to the United States. I actually had my nation listed as Antarctica at the time of the drawing!

As many of you know I was here for the previous Summer CPL Championships for Counter-Strike: Source ending up 9-12th. This trip I can already tell is going to be a lot more enjoyable for myself. Actually being able to go to the parties and watching all of the different matches without the pressure of my own schedule is pretty nice. The Counter-Strike 1.6 and Quake4 tournaments are both starting tomorrow, so be sure to check-in on my next entry tomorrow!
