Promotional: F.E.A.R. Invitational Rules Announced

Here are the rules for the F.E.A.R. Combat GotFrag Invitational...
1. Tournament Overview

The GotFrag F.E.A.R Invitational Tournament is a one day tournament. The first place prize is $5,000 in prizes with a second place prize coming in the form of a Vivendi prize pack to each member of the 2nd place team. This tournament features a team-based orientation with Conquer All being the format for the event. Four players from each team will be used.

2. Player Eligibility

2a. GotFrag requires for this one day event that the ESRB industry rating system for video games must be met. FEAR has an ESRB rating of "Mature" making it only suitable for ages 17 and above. All participants are required to be a minimum of 17 years of age at the date of the event in order to compete. Any one under the age of 17 may not compete in the Tournament.

2b. Competitors are required to agree with the Terms and Conditions Agreement for the GotFrag F.E.A.R Invitational Tournament in order to play in the competition.
2c. Competitor contestants must register under their legal surname, in combination with their legal first name and middle initial or middle name. Aliases or nicknames may not be used to replace legal names while registering for the Tournament.

2d. Competitor agrees to use a real email address during registration, failure to do so will result in a forfeiture of prizes.

2e. Competitor agrees not to submit a registration containing forged, fraudulent, false or misleading information. All registrations are subject to verification. If a registration is found to contain forged, fraudulent, false or misleading information, it will be removed, and Competitor will be barred from participation in the Tournament.

2f. Competitor agrees to immediately provide GotFrag with updated registration information in the event that any of the information changes or becomes obsolete.

2g. GotFrag reserves the right at all times to disclose any information obtained during registration as GotFrag deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental authority request, or to edit, refuse, or remove any information, in whole or in part, at the sole discretion of GotFrag.

2h. Sponsor employees or members of an organization, contractor or agency directly affiliated with the GotFrag are not eligible to compete in the Tournament. These include, but are not limited to, DPAD, EXE, GotFrag Hardware their affiliates, sponsors, subsidiaries, divisions, directors, officers, employees and agents. Immediate family members of these parties are also not eligible for competition.


3. Online Registration

3a. GotFrag F.E.A.R Invitational Tournament is invite only. Participants are required to fulfill their previously explained rules to be eligible once invited.

4. Tournament Structure

4a. The $5,000 GotFrag F.E.A.R Invitational Tournament is 12 team single elimination invite tournament.

4b. Teams are seeded by pre-event rankings from all team captains.

4c. The top four seeded teams will be given BYE’s in the first round of the tournament.

4d. The tournament is single elimination with one matchp. The map will be determined by teams removing one of the three maps in the map list. The low seed will remove the map of their choice first followed by the high seed.


4.1 Tournament Match Rules

4.1a. Game Definitions: Match – Will consist of one 30 minute map which at the end will be determined by the team with the most points. A match can end before the 30 minute time period if any team is able to capture all five points on the map at one time.
4.1b. The following maps may be used for all matches. Each Tournament Round will use one map. GotFrag reserves the right to change the map cycle if necessary.

4.1c. Only team leaders are allowed to use public in-game messages within a game. This rule also applies when a team member is dead. Use of messages by any member but the leader could result in a forfeit and loss. Other team members must only use team only messages while in the game.

4.1d. In the incident of a tie in points after the competing of the 30 minute map, a five minute overtime will take place. After that period the team with the most points will win. The match will continue on with five minute overtimes until one team has a high point total after a five minute allotted time. At anytime a team controls all five points, even during overtime, the match is officially over.

4.1e. Only registered competitors are allowed to participate in the tournament. Should any team have unregistered competitors in the tournament, the entire team will be disqualified. Each team must select a name for their team and also appoint a team captain.

4.1f. Substitutes may only happen between matches. No team is allowed to substitute players during a match or overtime period. Exceptions can be made by tournament admins if one of the starters is deemed unable to play (the substitute player must be registered for the tournament).

4.1g. If a team fails to arrive in their designated match server 5 minutes after the start of their assigned match, the match will be forfeited.

4.1h. No non-based spawn weapons will be allowed in this event. All “Superweapons” as they are referred to must be turned off in a match server for the game to be counted in the tournament.

4.1i. Medpack’s must be limited to three per person on the game server for the match to be counted in the tournament.

6. Tournament Procedure

6a. Scheduled match times represent the time of the actual match start, not the time that a competitor must report to the designated match server. Competitors must report to #gotfragfear on irc.gamesurge.net at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Teams will be guaranteed five minutes for warm-up.

6b. Competitors may not leave the game server during the match or overtime unless specifically requested of a tournament admin.

6c. If a tournament server or network crashes before 10 minutes have been competed in the match, the server must be restarted and the game's score reset to 0-0. The match is then restarted. If the server crashes after 10 minutes into the match, the game must be restarted and played with the score as it was before the crash according to the tournament admins judgment of the score.

6d. If a competitor's computer crashes after the match has gone live, the server will continue with the team having the right to request a new player join the server during the match. See rule 4.1f for additional information.


7. Competitor Conduct

7a. Competitors will conduct themselves in a respectful manner, maintaining a friendly and polite demeanor to spectators, competitors, members of the press, tournament officials, GotFrag tournament admins, sponsors and the general public.

7b. Competitors will refrain from the use of vulgar language during the entire competition. Teasing competitors during matches is prohibited. All rules of conduct also apply to chatting through the game console.

7c. Competitors are expected to compete in a professional manner. Throwing a match, halting play without cause, or showing a lack of effort will be construed as a violation of player conduct, and will result in match forfeit and disqualification from the tournament.

7d. Use of alcohol or illegal drugs is prohibited during GotFrag events. Competitors may not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while competing in a tournament.

7e. Competitor contestant agrees, without limitation, to abide by all Tournament Rules and Regulations. Failure to do so will subject Competitor contestant to immediate bar and removal from the Tournament.

7f. Sponsor names or name tags, as part of a team or player name, are not allowed.

7g. Competitor agrees not use threatening, profane, vulgar, obscene, lewd, or indecent speech or gestures during the Tournament.

7h. Competitor agrees not to maliciously disparage, discredit, slander, libel or defame GotFrag or the Tournament Sponsors, in any public forum, or format, including but not limited to: websites, IRC, Usenet/Web discussion systems, chat programs, magazines, newsletters, newspapers, radio, videos, documentaries, television, etc.

7i. Competitor agrees that GotFrag may deny entry or affect removal of Competitor if Competitor is determined, at the sole discretion of GotFrag, to be in violation of any of the terms and conditions of this Agreement or any other applicable policy or rule.


8. Cheating and Rule Violations

8a. By registering and participating in the GotFrag F.E.A.R Invitational Tournament each participant agrees to the rules of this document. Breaking any rule listed is grounds for tournament disqualification at the discretion of the tournament admins.

8b. Any action in violation of the Player Conduct rules as witnessed by a tournament admin, will result in a warning. Once a warning has been issued, the next violation will result in disqualification of the entire team.

8c. The Tournament Director reserves the right to cancel or modify the tournament rules if fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond reasonable control, impairs the integrity of the tournament.

8d. Any form of cheating, including but not limited to intentional disconnects, ping flooding, server crashing, etc., will result in immediate disqualification of the competitor and/or team.

8e. A Tournament Official has the right to disqualify and dismiss any registered player from the tournament, at his or her discretion, at any stage of the tournament, for any valid reason, without prior warning to the player.

8f. Any competitor or team accidentally utilizing any exploit or bug in a map or game will be given a 50 point penalty per infraction. Competitors are responsible for their actions in regards to knowing map and/or game bugs and exploits.

8g. Any competitor or team intentionally attempting to use any exploit in a map shall be immediately disqualified and may be removed from the event. If you have a question regarding a particular tactic, you must ask a Tournament admin prior to the match.


9. Liability and Agreement

9a. Competitor agrees to release and hold harmless GotFrag and Sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, and assigns for any equipment or server malfunction that results in the disqualification or loss of ranking status of Competitor.

9b. Game software used during the Tournament is the property of the Game Developer and/or Game Publisher. Competitor agrees to release and hold harmless Game Developer, Game Publisher, GotFrag and Sponsors, their affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, and assigns, for any error, bug or malfunction caused by the game software that results in the disqualification or loss of ranking status of Competitor contestant.

9c. All prizes at GotFrag events are promised for supply by third party Sponsors. GotFrag is not responsible for any deficiency or delay in the delivery, condition, or value of any prizes or award. Competitor agrees to release and hold harmless GotFrag and Sponsors affiliates, subsidiaries, divisions, directors, officers, employees, volunteers, agents, and assigns, including advertising and promotion agencies, and promotion partners, from any and all liability with respect to any prize.


10. Intellectual Property

10a. Recordings, broadcasts, transmissions, video and audio streams, archives and/or displays of the Tournament are the exclusive property of GotFrag. Unauthorized public display of this property is prohibited.

10b. GotFrag reserves the right to reproduce, archive, publish, display, stream, broadcast, exhibit for promotional purposes, without credit or notification, any derivative work, article, feature, video, program, picture, item, art or printed coverage of the Tournament and all of its Competitors.

10c. Unauthorized replication, publication, or copying of this Agreement, in whole or in part, is prohibited.
